The BEST pain specialist I've been to in a long time! He's extremely compassionate, caring, concerned and devoted. He's no push over so if you think you're going to play him just to get your non pain addiction fixed, hasn't! think again. too many people have ruined some good pain specialist careers and Dr Nel is cautious about those kind of people. he will not only help you with your true pain but will guide you to the kind of specialized care you may need to repair your problem. The only downside is his nurses. stay one step ahead of them because they don't follow through with his request. you have to follow thru with them and keep them on tract otherwise you won't get your care regarding referrals, meds, etc.Dr Nel is AWESOME! Nurses..extremely questionable!

Both his PA and Dr Nell LISTEN. You will have to ask for appointment with Dr Nell specifically if you want it otherwise you will get his PA but I thought she was good.

"Dr Nel has a be ry busy practice and you may have a longer than usual wait time. However, there is a reason why and it's because he really is the best. People in pain often have good days and bad days. When you have a waiting room full of patients on a bad day, you will naturally have a longer wait. Dr Nel refuses to rush any patient with new or worsening problems and some people need extra attention sometimes. I try to remember that when I visit him and there is a wait. Some people may be having an extraordinarily difficult time and need more attention than usual. I don't want Dr Nel to rush them out the door, just like I wouldn't want him to rush me out. His dedicated patients understand this, but new comers may be turned off by the occasional longer wait. Dr Nel is always working on that. He has hired a great Nurse practitioner who has really helped shorten the wait times. When patients just need a check up, prescription renewal or to set an appt for a procedure, The nurse practitioner is very knowledgable and helpful in many cases that don't require Dr. Nel's expertise. I've noticed a great improvement in wait times since the addition of Laci joining the team."

Dr Nel is an excellent physician. He is thorough, caring, knowledgeable and professional. He looks for all kinds of different treatments to manage pain other than using medication. He consistently is on top of new procedures and medications. He really seems to instinctively know what treatment will work and will e honest with you about treatments that don't usually work. However he recognizes that pain is very individual and different for everyone.

"I have seen this doctor three times now in two different locations. The first time, in Riverview, I waited close to an hour. The last two times in Tampa I waited over 2 hours both times just to be called back to one of the patient rooms. According to other patients, this is common. "

Dr Nel has been my DR for over 5 years. He is concerned not only with my pain issues but also my overall health, Dr. Nel tries many pain relieving options when treating you and doesn't just give you a prescription. He has helped me tremendously by using blocks, and different injections into the pain causing areas. I have several disease processes and must spend alot of time in the hospital and his team follows me and keeps my pain under control without having to put me on a bunch of different medication. They know me and know what works. I am able to take less of the medication because of the thorough evaluations and followups.
