I couldn't ask for a better Doctor. I have been with him since he came to CT.I've always been able to talk to him and express my feelings. In other words (HE LISTENS).

The most horrible office experience I have ever had! Dr. Applegate has this insane policy where he won't go over test results with a patient over the phone. Dr. Applegate ordered some tests for my mother (she had told him her stomach was bloated. He said this was very concerning, but instead of suggesting she visit an internist, he ordered MRIs and ultrasounds). When each test result became available, he made my 84-year-old mother schedule an appointment to review the results. This was very stressful for my mother. I called up and asked the receptionist to please have the doctor call us with the results. She said it was the office policy and refused. I explained that my mother was the patient and she wanted the results over phone and as soon as possible, instead of waiting a few days for the office visit. I said that if this was a method for the doctor to charge office visits to my mother, we would pay the office visit fee, just do it over the phone. I didn't want to have to subject my mother to the stress of yet another office visit and the stress of waiting for results. Again, the receptionist refused, citing office policy. I asked to speak to the doctor, but he wouldn't get on the phone. Then she hinted that it would be in our best interest to go to this appointment, which led me to believe there was a major problem. So I took my mother to the appointment. After waiting about a half hour for the doctor, we were brought into his office where he told my mother there was a suspicious thickening in her uterus and she should see a gynecologist. WHAT? He couldn't have told her this on the phone? And why didn't he recommend this in the first place? This guy either has a severe God complex or his business is faltering and he is seeking additional revenue by subjecting elderly people to unnecessary tests and office visits. And speaking of the tests, when my mom went to the gynecologist, his first question was why was a bone doctor ordering these tests? They were clearly out of his realm. Then he said it was completely normal for an elderly woman to have a bloated belly. After examining my mother, he concluded that nothing was wrong with her. I would seriously reconsider visiting this doctor unless you have an unlimited amount of time.
