WONDERFUL & COMPASSIONATE DETOX DR. posted on July 18, 2014

Superb management of detoxing me from morphine I'd been taking due to chronic cervical pain. Kept symptoms of detox to real minimum. As soon as I felt nauseous or had headaches or was jittery, she/the Mission C'y Hospital took care of it all. Great bedside manner. Visited me every day in hospital. Available for follow-up phone conferences if you have any issues or questions. Does a long consultation at her office before being admitted so you can ask all your questions. Very nice person. Doesn't make you feel like you're intruding by asking questions and being nervous about undergoing this process. show details

Yes, and she didn't question my pain or the levels it often reached. She didn't tell me it was "in my head." She recognized the neck fusion had caused the rest of my levels in my neck to collapse and I was in constant pain, nerve pain, that traveled all the way down my left side negatively affecting my arm, hand, leg, foot, balance, etc.

She took my phone calls during all hours of the day both in the hospital and after I was discharged. I had a bad reaction to medication after the 1st detox and she made herself available often by phone to walk me through it.
I waited for about 10 minutes at the office before seeing the doctor.

     I recommend this doctor.

Highly recommend her. Many of us needed help to get off opiates we'd been using for chronic pain. And then to transfer onto Subutex or Suboxone for longer lasting relief, or to try other methods of pain control if the pain had lessened. The opiates CREATE pain after awhile. They tell your brain you have more pain in order to get more meds. It's a vicious cycle. Subutex and Suboxone work completely differently. Changed my life for the better. I've been able to stay on this medication now for 14 months at the same dosage. I don't like being on any pain medication, but I have no choice. This one keeps me the most stable and got me out of bed for the first time in years. I started slowly to function. I can now go to PT. I can do some light pool exercises. If you're in constant pain, everything goes downhill and that creates more and more problems. This gave me a more stable platform for trying to live a little bit better life. I'm told I may be on this the rest of my life, and my life will probably always be limited, but at least I'm not in bed crying and wanting to die every minute of every day now.

     Positive Comments:

Responsive, compassionate, knowledgeable, takes time, changed my life by leveling off my daily pain so that I can function a little more and strengthen my body. A miracle really. Found in the last year.

     Negative Comments:

I have nothing negative to say about her. Sometimes Mission Community Hospital, where she has privileges, has some issues (moving me around to different beds in the middle of detoxing; messing up my insurance authorization so I had to lay on the floor in the hospital for hours on the day I was supposed to be admitted; some less than stellar nursing care but not across the board.

    •  General Comments:

If you can't travel to her to get your monthly medication, there is a site that tells you doctors in your area who are licensed to prescribe Subutex and Suboxone. I found out that my PCP not even a mile away could do this. Saves me driving all the way to and from her office, although if she were closer I would do so.
