Selected Infection Due to Medical Care This indicator is intended to flag cases of infection due to medical care, primarily those related to intravenous (IV) lines and catheters. Patients with potential immunocompromised states (e.g., AIDS, cancer, and transplant patients) are excluded, as they may be more susceptible to such infection. It should be noted that children and newborns are included in this indicator and that high-risk newborns are at particularly high risk for catheter-related infections. Reference: [6] |
