This is the U.S. national average of total charges (stratified) for all patients that have a pulmonary embolism.

A pulmonary embolism is when blood flow into the lungs is obstructed. Usually, the obstruction is a blood clot that originally formed in the lower extremity but broke free and floated in the blood to the lungs. A pulmonary embolism may also be caused by foreign materials such as air bubbles or fat.
