Average National Length of Stay - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

This is the U.S. national average length of stay (risk adjusted) in days that patients spent in the hospital for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a disorder that persistently obstructs bronchial airflow. The most common causes of COPD are two related diseases, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. COPD obstructs air flowing in and out of the lungs. The obstruction is generally irreversible and becomes worse over time.
