Dr. Marc Arel

Medical Review Officer

Dr Arel is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr Arel currently practices pediatric medicine at Broward General Medical Center and North Broward Medical Center in Broward County, Florida. His practice of Medicine is centered on pediatrics with complimenting work as a Pediatric Hospitalist and instructor. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University, Department of Pediatrics and is the Medical Director at Bay Point Schools which operate 3 campuses in South Florida.

Dr Arel is UCHC's Medical Review officer and is responsible for the medical review and accuracy of our content.

Dr. Arel received his BA in psychology from the University of Miami and his Medical Degree from the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He performed his post graduate training at Albert Einstein Medical Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Lee J. Beaudoin

Healthcare Consultant

Lee J. Beaudoin is a healthcare executive with extensive experience in general healthcare policy, contract development/negotiation, real estate transactions, insurance and legal activities.

Lee worked for Fallon Clinic for 25 years, where he had progressive responsibilities in operations, program/department development, relationship development, strategic planning and cost control. He was, until 2002, the clinic's Chief Administrative Officer, responsible for all administrative aspects of organizational operations for the multi-specialty group practice's 270 physicians and 34 sites, including risk and litigation management, real estate negotiation/acquisition, insurance coordination and medical malpractice.

Since leaving Fallon Clinic, Lee has served as a healthcare consultant.

Dr. James Carifio

Statistics and Cognitive Research Consultant

Dr. James Carifio is currently a full professor of cognitive psychology, research and education at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, where he teaches and supervises doctoral students' dissertation work. He does his own research, which is primarily experimental and theory testing, as well as work in science, mathematics and allied health education, both as a researcher and practitioner.

James did his undergraduate work at Columbia, and graduate work at the University of Edinburgh. He was part of the group that started the Hyde School in Bath, Maine, which is now one of the recognized leaders in character education in the country (with funding to start five more character education schools by the Gates Foundation).

His masters and doctoral degrees in educational research, psychology and statistics are from Boston University, where he was an instructor and co-director of the educational research laboratory.

As director of research and development for the Massachusetts Board of Regional Community Colleges and Director of Research and Evaluation for the Massachusetts Board of Regents, James developed many databases and data systems, serving on numerous federal and state panels dealing with data system, databases and data standards. He also chaired the national committee, which designed integrated post-secondary education data systems, one of the first comprehensive databases commissioned and funded by the federal government.

During the last 15 years as a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, James has published over 100 experimental research studies and four books, with two new books soon to be published.

Judith Kenary MBA, R.N.

Quality Management and Healthcare Advisor

As a nursing professional Judith was Director of Clinical Services at Fallon Clinic, a primary care, multi-specialty ambulatory care group practice in Worcester, Massachusetts. Judith's 15 year administrative career at Fallon entailed creating many innovative quality clinical programs's assisting in facilitating patient access to all types of medical care and treatment.

Judith has enjoyed her experiences as a Registered Nurse in a full spectrum of hands-on direct patient care in Connecticut, California and Massachusetts. The diversity of work experience gives Judith keen sensitivity to the needs of patients formulating a deep personal pride as a relentless patient advocate.

While currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate Degree at the University of Hartford, Hartford, Ct., Judith is currently an adjunct faculty and guest lecturer in several graduate and undergraduate schools of management, Clark University Worcester, Ma., Becker College Worcester, Ma., and Anna Maria College Paxton Ma.

Judith received her R.N. from Norwalk Community College, Norwalk Connecticut, her BS in Nursing from Pace University, Pleasantville, New York and her MBA from Anna Maria College, Paxton Massachusetts.

Ronald King

Clinical Quality Consultant

Ron is Director of the Cardiopulmonary Department at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, New Hampshire.

Ron has more than 13 years in the healthcare industry, working in several aspects of medicine and management. He has been involved in several areas of medicine and healthcare management:

  • education
  • direct patient care as a Respiratory Therapist
  • financial and operational management experience as director of Pulmonary and Cardiac departments
  • quality management and
  • performance improvement in a hospital setting

Ron has held positions at Heywood Hospital, a 120-bed acute care hospital, and Metrowest Medical Center, a 300-bed acute care hospital, both located in Massachusetts.

In 2004 Ron accepted the position as Director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Androscoggin Valley Hospital, where he oversees financial, managerial, marketing and education operations for a licensed 90-bed acute care hospital. Ron is personally committed to the quality management process as well as performance improvement and development of underutilized healthcare services to improve people's quality of life.

Ron is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and has a B.S. in Biology and Exercise Physiology from Fitchburg State College.
